Tornado in Washington state 2014 blows open roofs, downs power lines while causing major wreckage to houses and cars alike. Thankfully no person was hurt during the passing of the dark devil.

The tornado in Washington State 2014 occurred on Thursday. Numerous reports emanating from the quiet Cowlitz County indicate that the damage that occurred in the town was extensive, leading to the closure of multiple businesses and institutions. Many people were confined to viewing the wreckage through the television, not going outside as they feared the onset of another Washington tornado.

The National Weather Service reported that the tornado touched down at about 12:40 pm in Cowitz County. A windy weather dumped rain and plenty of thundershowers over Southern Washington and northern Oregon. The continual pounding by the heavy rain signaled the onset of the tornado. About an hour later, the weather service warned of a thunderstorm capable of producing a funnel cloud moving over Boring town in Oregon.

The NWS in Portland storm damage survey team reported that the damage occurred in more than one mile of road, and was about 200 feet wide. Roofs, automobiles, trees and power lines consisted majority of the wreckage from the tornado in Washington 2014.

Numerous business premises were also damaged. Ian McNew runs a department store in Oregon. He recalls, "After it (the piece of roof) went through, it was just absolutely howling. It was deafening; it was loud. That's when we took cover...It ripped the back door, it's a security door, it ripped it right off its hinges."

Authorities said the worst damage from the Washington tornado happened at the intersection in Longview. Luckily, no person was injured.

The last time NWS Portland office ever issued a tornado warning was in 2010. Two weeks ago, the Seattle NWS office issued its first tornado warning since 1997. These warnings come hot on the heels of the tornado in Washington 2014.
