Megan Mahoney, Teacher - A former teacher that worked in Moore Catholic High School in Staten Island has been accused of maintaining a sexual relationship with a student for a span of time of two months in 2013.
Megan Mahoney, who is 24 years old, worked as a gym teacher and assistant basketball coach in Moore. On Monday, Oct. 20, she was arrested and has been charged with rape in third-degree, criminal sexual act in third-degree and also, endangering the welfare of a child, according to ABC 6.
The teacher had an "affair" with a 16 year-old male student, whose name was not released and it started on Oct. 31 and continued up to Jan. 9, when she resigned to her job after the rumors spread.
At the moment, the NYPD is investigating the entire situation to determine what is truth and what is a lie of all the presented allegations. Another member of the Moore school that is under investigation is Richard Postiglione.
He was Moore's athletic director and chief operating officer. According to different reports, he had been told repeatedly about the sexual relation that the teacher, Megan Mahoney had with a student and didn't take any actions in the matter.
When asked about the events in the sexual relation to the student, he shared the activities they did with Megan Mahoney.
"We would just drive around and (do it) in the car. We were never boyfriend-girlfriend. It was cool. I knew it wasn't going anywhere. I told my best friend and like three kids," the NY Post noted.
Apparently, instead of taking actions with the teacher, the school planned on "getting rid" of the student, his mother told the media.
Also, it wasn't the only case. Moore school had another case some years back involving a female teacher and a female student. Postiglione knew about this as well, it seems, and he failed to report it too.
On top of that, Postiglione has been accused himself of trying to maintain an illicit relationship with another colleague from Moore school. He is married and his colleague had no interest in pursuing this affair. She reported it and then was fired, apparently.
Postiglione and the former teacher, Megan Mahoney, will have a lot of explaining to do on the stated case.
