A colossal 65-foot frankfurter is coming to NYC, bringing a playful mix of spectacle, celebration, and a Summer's worth of hot dog-focused events.

Giant Wiener Invades Times Square!

A massively meaty art installation is coming to the heart of New York City. From April 30 to June 13, 2024, dynamic artist duo Jen Catron and Paul Outlaw bring their larger-than-life creation, "Hot Dog in the City," to the corner of Broadway and 46th Street. This colossal 65-foot-long sculpture is set to break the record for the World's Largest Hot Dog Sculpture! Who knew there was a record for that?

Dog Days of Summer

This colossal frank comes to life with hydraulic mechanisms that make it ascend toward the sky, showering visitors below with bursts of confetti - which is weird but OK. These daily confetti eruptions are said to reference quintessential American events like New Year's Eve - also weird but we're still on board. The weiner isn't just about spectacle - it's supposed to spark a deeper dialogue about American culture, consumption, and the underbelly of the meat industry. Understanding how a ginormous pink tube that spits confetti on pedestrians will do this is above our pay grade, but we still think it's a fun prank either way.

A Tasty Event Lineup

Throughout the installation's run, cultural organization Times Square Arts will have a fun lineup of public programs planned. From condiment wrestling matches to dog-eat-dog beauty pageants, to hot dog eating contests with Nathan's Famous pro-gurgitators it's a frank fest that's a must-see. Events are mostly free, but RSVPing is suggested on the Times Square Arts website. So go get your dog on, and stop by one of NYC's famous hot dog carts while you're at it.
