Krispy Kreme and OREO are Dropping a Collab for the Solar Eclipse

Krispy Kreme is celebrating the upcoming solar eclipse with a brand new doughnut that's out-of-this-world delicious. In collaboration with Oreo, Krispy Kreme is launching the Total Solar Eclipse Doughnut, available from April 5-8.

This celestial creation is a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. The base starts with a classic Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Doughnut dipped in a mysterious black chocolate icing that evokes the dark sky during an eclipse. Twinkling silver sprinkles add a touch of starlight, while a decadent Oreo buttercream is swirled across the top. The pièce de résistance? A whole Oreo cookie placed right in the center.

"Eclipses are rare, and so is our out-of-this-world Total Solar Eclipse Doughnut," says Dave Skena, global chief brand officer for Krispy Kreme. "Even if you can't be in the path of totality, you can get in the path of these treats, which you'll devour in totality!"

A History of Shooting for the Stars

This isn't Krispy Kreme's first foray into space-themed doughnuts. In fact, they've got a whole constellation of celestial creations under their belt!

  • In 2017, to celebrate the last total solar eclipse to grace the U.S., Krispy Kreme "eclipsed" their classic glaze with a chocolate one for the very first time.

  • The company even served its legendary Original Glazed at the launch viewing site for NASA's Apollo 11 moon mission back in 1969!

  • More recently, Krispy Kreme sent taste buds to Mars with a limited-edition Mars Doughnut to commemorate NASA's Perseverance Rover landing in 2021.

  • In 2022, it celebrated NASA's Artemis I mission around the moon with the Artemis Moon Doughnut. Krispy Kreme also acknowledged the first-ever image of a supermassive black hole (which some thought resembled an Original Glazed) with a free doughnut giveaway!
