Remember when Klondike discontinued the Choco Taco in 2022? Brace yourselves chocoholics because it's getting a second life! Taco Bell collaborated with Portland-based craft ice creamery Salt & Straw to resurrect the beloved dessert. Fans were distraught when the brand disappeared. Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian even offered to buy the snack's rights via a Twitter post so fans could continue enjoying the Mexican-inspired treat. But alas, it was not to be. Taco Bell delighted fans this month when they announced the treat's revival during their massive new products announcement in Las Vegas.
New Spicy Cinnamon Flavor
There will be a few exciting changes to the traditional Choco Taco. The difference between this version and the Klondike classic is that Salt & Straw has cooked up a "cinnamon ancho chocolate taco." According to Tyler Malek, Salt & Straw's co-founder and head ice cream maker, "This is the most delicious thing you will eat in your entire life." This brand-new Choco Taco will bring you these incredible flavor combinations:
-
Hardy, hand-pressed waffle cone shells
-
Zesty cinnamon ancho ice cream filling
-
Luscious single-origin chocolate dip
-
A crunchy toasted brown rice topping
Where Can I Buy The New Choco Taco?
The new version will be made available to order nationawide on the Salt & Straw website this summer. It will come with sweet and spicy dipping sauces. No announcements were made if it will be sold at Taco Bell brick-and-mortar locations but we can always hope.
