One of the most terrifying murder cases in the last few years has come to light: an Australian chef cooks girlfriend after murdering her; the man later took his own life. The man now known as the chef who cooked his girlfriend was called Marcus Volke, and he was from Victoria, Australia; his girlfriend, Indonesian Mayang Prasetyo.
The horrifying event had the chef cook his girlfriend after murdering and dismembering her in their Brisbane apartment. The police discovered the gruesome events last Saturday night, when they discovered the chef cooking his girlfriend; or, in any case, boiling her severed body in chemicals, according to local newspaper Brisbane Times.
At the time, Volke managed to escape and then reportedly ended his own life; his body was found later in an industrial bin near the couple's Brisbane apartment.
The Huffington Post reports that neighbors of the complex the couple lived in had reported that, for several days, there had been a smell of "rotten meat" coming from the apartment, but they couldn't have possibly imagined what had really occurred behind closed doors in the apartment.
The killer's mother, Dorothy Volke, told Yahoo News that her son never showed signs of being disturbed to the point of being capable of doing something as brutal as murdering and dismembering another human being, let alone his girlfriend. She also stated that she hadn't met Prasetyo, her son's girlfriend, who was apparently a transgender cabaret dancer.
Neighbors of the complex said that Volke and Prasetyo were a regular couple and completely normal, and that there hadn't been any prior incidents that could indicate that something eerie was going on between them.
Because the body was dismembered and body parts were "cooked" chemically, police has said they haven't been able to determine for how long Pratsetyo had been dead before the police caught Volke.
The case of the chef cooking his girlfriend is only the latest brutal murder case to have hit international press. Last month, an Oklahoma man beheaded a woman he'd once worked with.
