In a move that leaves everyone in complete shock, Stephen Collins, the actor that plays 7th Heaven's pastor and leading man, has reportedly confessed in a tape to having molested three underage girls over the course of several years. The news is all the more shocking as Collins became famous playing a correct religious and family man as 7th Heaven's pastor and patriarch.
Celebrity news site TMZ reports that the 7th Heaven pastor's confession was in a tape made by his former wife, Faye Grant. The story was part of a therapy session that Collins' wife conducted back in 2012, as the 7th Heaven pastor and his then-wife were giving their marriage their last tries - currently, the former couple is in the middle of a nasty and long separation process after a 27 year-long marriage.
The divorce battle between Grant and Collins has included a long-standing fight over money, as Grant has said that her estranged husband has left her no means of income. She gave up her own acting career to raise their only daughter, Kate, and now Grant says she can't find an acting job.
In any case, the New York Daily News reports that the incriminating tape has Collins speaking to his wife about having had inappropriate contact with a New York minor at several times: when she was 11, 12 and 13 years old. According to the actor, the young girl was a relative of his first wife, Marjorie Weinman.
According to the confession on the tape, Collins reportedly exposed himself to the girl, along with two more over the years: a California girl who lived in his Los Angeles neighborhood at some point, and a 12- or 13-year-old in New York. Currently, the New York Police Department are investigating the facts behind the tape.
Collins is famous for having played the 7th Heaven pastor and family head, a show that stood heavily on Christian values. At the time of the show, he shared screen credit with a number of children - including a then-teenager Jessica Biel. Currently, the actor has a recurring role in the network political show Scandal.
