Arby’s Launches Leap Year ‘Vegetarian Menu’

This February 29, Arby's is launching a special vegetarian - friendly menu.

Arby's recently announced that for only one day on the Leap Day, it will be offering a vegetarian menu, which might seem a dream come true for the veggie lovers.

However, when followed closely, it seems that Arby's is just removing the meat from the sandwiches and not adding anything extra to create an amazing taste.

"We're proud of our meats and haven't been shy about promoting them, so we wanted to show vegetarians that with a little creativity, Arby's can fit into their diet as well," Arby's told Mashable.

For the vegetarian sandwich consumers, if they order a vegetarian classic roast beef sandwich, they'll be offered a toasted sesame seed bun "minus Arby's famous thinly sliced roast beef, marinated and roasted in Arby's restaurants every single day," and that's it, according to The Daily Meal.

Additionally, the vegetarian version of the Crispy Fish sandwich is nothing but a mixture of tartar sauce with shredded lettuce, while the vegetarian Beef n' Cheddar sandwich just contains melted cheese and Red Ranch Sauce on a roll.

Although it seems mean enough, yet reports suggest that this is not the first time "We Got The Meat" sandwich chain has mocked the vegetarian foodies.

In the press release announcing the fake olive branch, Arby's chief marketing officer and brand president Rob Lynch said, "At Arby's we're proud of our meats, but we also understand that meat isn't for everyone. So we've decided to give vegetarians a reason to visit Arby's on Leap Day by offering a one-day menu designed specifically for them. If it goes well, we'll likely bring back the vegetarian menu on Feb. 29 each year", reported Nation's Restaurant News.

The entire release seems a tongue-in-cheek affair, but it sure contains no meat as Arby's are bent on producing meat-free food for their vegetarian consumers, no matter how bad it tastes.
