World’s Most Expensive Cocktail Awaits in London Bar … At Almost £9,000 Per Glass!

A London bar has released the world's most expensive cocktail, which goes for Almost £9,000 (around $14,000) per glass - and, in pure London fashion, it was created specially for a former Bond girl!

The Gigi's bar in the Mayfair area in London set out to create the world's most expensive cocktail, in honor of regular customer Grace Jones, who appeared in one of Roger Moore's James Bond films, A View To a Kill. In it, she also co-starred with Oscar-winning American actor Christopher Walken - but neither Moore nor Walken were anywhere to be seen when it was time for the bar to launch the world's most expensive cocktail!

The Mayfair area in London is populated by the "fabulously rich," as The Telegraph puts it - which would explain why the world's most expensive cocktail would be served in that particular location. Property in the neighborhood often goes around £40million, which in dollars is about $63 million.

The world's most expensive cocktail, which according to The Independent goes by the name of "The Gigi," owes its extraordinarily high price to its components: it mixes 1990 vintage Cristal champagne and 1888 Samalens Vieille Relique Vintage Bas Armagnac brandy, topped off with "lashings" of gold leaf, Angostura Bitters and sugar.

The world's most expensive cocktail's price tag comes from the cost of each full bottle of alcohol, which will in the end produce around 12 glasses, each of them being worth £708; calculating in large mouthfuls, every sip going down patrons' throats would be worth £177. With that kind of price, it's certainly a cocktail to drink at a slow pace, with absolutely no rush!

The cocktail, made for the iconic Bond girl Grace Jones, was created to mark the special occasion of the bar's opening gala - which was attended by many stars taking residence in Britain. Jones herself went in with pal Boy George.
