Burger King Adds Hot Dog to the Menu

For Burger King lovers, good news awaits as the Miami-based fast food chain added a new item to their menu.

According to Burger King's announcements, they will be adding the hot dog on their menu starting Feb. 23, reported CBS Boston.

"This is probably the most obvious product launch ever," said Alex Macedo, president of Burger King North America.

With this new addition to Burger King's menu, they will be offering hot dogs to all of its 7,100 US restaurants which is more than any other US-based food chain. The other smaller food chains, which sell hot dogs, include Sonic Drive - In & Dairy Queen.

Burger King will be offering two types of hot dogs for their debut, namely Classic and Chili Cheese. The Classic flavor of the hot dog will contain a frame - grilled hot dog with mustard, ketchup, relish and chopped onions.

On the other hand, the Chili Cheese will contain topping of warm chili and shredded cheddar cheese. On the positive side, all dogs will contain 100 percent beef and will be served on baked buns.

Additionally, foodies will be given the option of customizing their order and adding different types of toppings and stick with Burger King's motto of "Have it your way."

"We wanted it to be the Whopper of hot dogs," Macedo told CNBC. "The Whopper is America's favorite burger, and we want this to be America's favorite hot dog."

Although the newest addition to the company was brought to five different locations across the country, including Memphis, Salt Lake City, Baltimore, Kansas City & Detroit, yet they steered away from New York City and Chicago.

"We wanted to keep it under the radar ... we wanted to catch people by surprise," Macedo said when asked about it.

For the big - rollout, the company has made some instructional videos as well as the promotional videos to let the word out.
