Consuming 14 Grams of Almonds Daily is All You Need to Boost Your Health

Keeping the body fit and healthy is the number one concern every person have these days. According to Indian Express, almonds are good and beneficial to the health. Researchers said that almonds are known to be a good source of protein, essential fatty acids, vitamin E and magnesium. The scientist got their conclusion from the results of the improved dietary intake of the research participants' scores when they were asked to answer the Healthy Eating Index.

The study states that eating a moderate amount of almonds daily can actually enrich the diets of both adults and young children. Alyssa Burns, one of the researchers from University of Florida said, "Almonds are a good source of plant protein - essential fatty acids, vitamin E and magnesium." To test the study, they gave almonds every day to 29 pairs of parents and children.

The mothers who joined have an average age of 35 and their children were between 3 to 6 years old. The children were encouraged to have 14 grams of almond butter daily and the parents were given the regular almonds daily of the same amount. They used an online dietary report to help track and find out how much the adults consumed.

The scientists used the Healthy Eating Index (HEI), a tool used to measure diet quality and to follow the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

This is where they based their conclusion about the improved dietary intake on participants' scores. The results showed that both the parents and children eating almonds have an increased result for their protein food, seafood, plant proteins and fatty acids, while they ate fewer empty calories.

Burns said that there was a higher score that indicated higher diet quality. Parents and children were able to get a higher HEI score from 53.7 to 61.4.
