Thailand Tourist ID’s To Be Incorporated For Security After Brutal Murders

Thailand Tourist ID - Thailand Tourism's minister has revealed that there are going to be new measures to take care of tourists as they visit Thailand after the incident that took place in Sept. 15th, where a young man and woman were brutally killed.

Thailand's tourism is not in the best conditions at the moment. Actually, in August the numbers showed that the visitors dropped at a 11.9% as from last year, according to NBC News. So, the problems were already there before the murders.

In Sept. 15th, Hannah Witheridge, who was 23 years old and David Miller, who was 24 years old, were found on a beach in Koh Tao Island.

The police is still investigating the case, but so far it has been revealed that Hannah Witheridge was presumably raped by two men while one watched. There were three men in total committing the murders and they have related them to sexual reasons, as no values or belongings from the two victims were missing, Daily Mail has noted.

As for the security, Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, the Tourism minister, has shared that what the plans include are: "When tourists check in to a hotel they will be given a wristband with a serial number that matches their ID and shows the contact details of the resort they are staying in, so that if they're out partying late and, for example, get drunk or lost, they can easily be assisted."

Also, she revealed further ideas to add up tracking devices of some sort and also, perhaps pair the tourists up with locals to be with them and show them around, but all done in company apparently.

It seems that the idea is not particularly attractive to many hotels, who complain that "making" people were these might reduce the tourism, as they would not be fond of being followed.
