Kim Kardashian 'Eats' Her Placenta To Avoid Postnatal Depression

Kim Kardashian-West is eating her placenta after giving birth to her second child to stop herself from getting post-pregnancy blues.

The Independent reports the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star is one of those weird mothers who eat their placenta after giving birth.

Kardashian-West, 35, had her placenta turned into pills after the birth of her second child with Kanye West, Saint, which she takes everyday to reduce risks of developing post-natal depression.

Placentophagy - a term for eating placenta provides nutrients that were passed between the mother and her fetus during pregnancy stage and can also enrich milk production. Consuming placenta could be done in several ways: making it a smoothie just within hours after giving birth, rubbing a piece of it on their gums, or drying it before turning to pills as a daily supplement.

The mother of two has previously spoken about eating her placenta after one-year-old North West's birth, her first child. She claims that the placenta tablets give her a "surge of energy" and make her feel "really healthy and good."

"My experience eating my placenta is up on my app," Kardashian-West tweeted on Wednesday.

"And when I say 'eat my placenta,' I mean that I'm having it freeze-dried and made into a pill form-not actually fry it like a steak and eat it (which some people do, BTW)," Kardashian wrote in her app.

"I really didn't want the baby blues and thought I can't go wrong with taking a pill made of my own hormones-made by me, for me," she continued. "I totally recommend it for anyone considering it!"

Aside from Kim, her older sister Kourtney is also a fan of Placentophagy. The 36-year-old also consumed her placenta after giving birth to her children with Scott Disick: Mason, 5, Penelople, 3, and Reign, 1.
