2016 Golden Globes Fumble: America Ferrera, Gina Rodriguez Are Not the Same Person [PHOTOS]

Just days after the 2016 GRAMMY Award nominations were released; another association also released their award nominees, specifically for the 2016 Golden Globes.

What began as an exciting event on Thursday morning, however, quickly turned sour after a minor mistake happened as the Golden Globes live-tweeted the event. Mashable reports:

"In a tweet sent as nominations were kicking off, the official Golden Globes Twitter account misidentified nominations presenter and star of NBC's 'Superstore' America Ferrera as Gina Rodriguez, the Golden Globe-winning star of The CW's 'Jane the Virgin.'"

Of course, the mishap was eventually corrected by the Golden Globes crew, and has since altered the tweet; but you can always check out the original one in the photo here.

And inevitably, the people of Twitter immediately took notice of the mistake. Twitter user Dave Itzkoff tweeted, "Gina Rodriguez, America Ferrera, same dif?"

Meanwhile, Jarett Wieselman decided to point out the mistake, just in case the Golden Globes couldn't. He wrote, "Yeah, that's America Ferrera not Gina Rodriguez, official #GoldenGlobes Twitter account..."

"Golden Globes announcement has been a complete BOTCH JOB thus far. Their Twitter account has confused America Ferrera for Gina Rodriguez," said Jeff Sneider.

The whole thing gets even worse for the Golden Globes, who repeated the same mistake.

Jamie Lewis posted a side-by-side screen shot of the two tweets and captioned it, "Mislabeling an actress once? Awkward. Twice? Inexcusable. (That's America Ferrara, not Gina Rodriguez)."

Luckily, it doesn't seem like Gina Rodriguez is badly affected by the mistake. The 31-year-old actress was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy for the second year in a row.

Gina Rodriguez is vying for the title, along with Rachel Bloom for "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," Jamie Lee Curtis for "Scream Queens," Julia Louis-Dreyfus for "Veep" and Lily Tomlin for "Grace and Frankie."
