Ice Bucket Challenge Death Snopes

The Ice bucket challenge has been mentioned on Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram and other social media. Celebrities' participation in the meme might be the reason why ice bucket challenge is circulating all round the social media. Despite its wide popularity, new entries have been posted claiming that ice bucket challenge can be dangerous.

As part of the ice bucket challenge death rumor, several variations have been given. In the most frequent case, the victim is said to have died of shock after coming into contact with freezing water. The rumor originates from a "satirical" website, which claimed that a teenager died after an ice bucket fell on her, its freezing water pouring all over her.

In another contradicting narrative, a woman named Latasha brown died while attempting the ice bucket challenge. This information originated from Huzlers, a website which describes itself as a source of "real shocking news and satire."

The photo has been criticized for its lack of authenticity. In actual sense, the picture accompanying the article was not Latasha's.

Similarly, another report claimed that Nancy Oley, a 17-year-old girl, died after attempting the ice bucket challenge. The only proof supporting the claim was a video clip by an unidentified source. It was later discovered that the teenager pictured in the clip was Therese Todd, a 19-year old girl of Maryland.

It should be noted that, while claims of the heart attack being due to the ice bucket challenge may be unfounded, fatal accidents have been reported abroad in the past. At that moment, the "ice bucket challenge" was just a drinking game. It did not have any links to charity donations.

The ice bucket challenge is a popular topic of discussion on Twitter and Facebook. It is worth mentioning that so far no verifiable reports of death or serious injuries have emerged from the challenge.
