A new X-Wing and a First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter take center stage in a brief but exciting new TV ad for the Jeep Renegade sponsored by 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens!'
One of the best parts of every 'Star Wars' movie has been the dogfights between the Rebel Alliance X-Wings and the Empire's TIE Fighters. 'Episode VII' seems to promise more amazing air battles and the new Jeep Renegade ad proves that the film will definitely deliver on this vow.
The ad opens with a T-70 X-Wing Fighter being chased by a First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter as it flies under the Star Destroyer. It is an intense chase as the TIE Fighter almost hits the X-Wing, but it doesn't last long as a second T-70 X-Wing Fighter joins the dogfight and shoots at the enemy. A closer look at the second X-Wing reveals that it has an astromech droid that turns out to be BB-8, which confirms that the pilot is Poe Dameron. The second X-Wing fires at the TIE Fighter, which explodes as the camera pans out to reveal Earth, where a couple is sitting in their Jeep Renegade and watching the stars.
"It's so peaceful up there," the woman says to her partner as they gaze up at the TIE Fighter's explosion.
The dogfight between the X-Wing and the TIE Fighter may have been a short one, but it also raises the question whether the footage is actually taken from 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens.' Although there is a possibility that the ad had borrowed the scene from 'Episode VII,' it may also be a completely separate shot done just for the commercial.
