Country star and Nicole Kidman's husband, Keith Urban, recently revealed to the press that he had been going through a difficult situation as his dad, Robert, was losing the battle to cancer and had only a few weeks left - now, it has been reported that Keith Urban's father has unfortunately passed away.
As Urban and Kidman are surrounded by never-ending rumors regarding the current state of their marriage, the battle that Keith Urban's father was going through was by no means untrue, and after the country singer opened up about the tough times his father was having, he has now confirmed the sad news.
According to E! Online, Keith Urban's father, Robert, passed away last Saturday night, as his famous son is touring with his new Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit, which has turned into a "bittersweet" experience for the "Raise 'Em Up" singer.
"His long battle with cancer is now over and he is finally at peace. My dad's love of country music and America set me on my life's journey, and shaped so much of who I am today," said the Australian star on a statement to People Magazine regarding the death of Keith Urban's father. "Thank you to everyone who has kept us all in your thoughts and prayers."
As The New York Daily News reports, the singer has been very vocal of how much of his career he owes to Keith Urban's father, as it was thanks to him that Keith decided to go to America to pursue a career in country, also sweetly stressing that it was Robert who said that he had to "dress as a performer," recounting that, when he was a young star making rounds in Australian talent quests, he was always the best dressed male in the categories.
