The first thing Game Of Thrones released to tease its upcoming sixth season was a poster featuring the presumed-dead Jon Snow.
And now the 41-second teaser that dropped on December 3 had GoT fans getting some serious Jon Snow resurrection vibes from it.
The new GoT teaser doesn’t give a whole lot to go on – it’s filled with old scenes of everyone's favorite characters getting stabbed, crippled, sliced and exploded: Jon Snow’s shocking assassination, Ned Stark’s beheading, the Red Wedding where Rob and Catelyn Stark died, King Joffrey’s poisoning, Arya going blind, Jaime Lannister’s hand being severed, and several shots of dragons and White Walkers.
Cryptically, the opening narration comes from Max von Sydow the new voice of the Three-Eyed Raven, who will provide guidance to Bran Stark as he travels north of the Wall.
“We watch, we listen, and we remember,” the raven says, presumably referring to those who see visions. “The past is already written. The ink is dry.”
That seems to mean that what’s done is done, but there is just one clue that might hint that Jon isn’t gone for good.
And guess who's back? Bran Stark! The youngest brother of Jon Snow with warging powers (the ability to take over the body of animals) was seen again for the first time eversince he went MIA for all Season 5. The crippled young Stark was seen with his eyes rolled back into his head, a sign that he’s taken over another living being’s body, directly after Jon was bleeding out on the snow.
Coincidence? Maybe.
It may sound crazy to believe that Bran will enter Jon’s body to save him somehow, but It doesn’t seem possible with Bran’s current powers, but then who knows? Things change everyday in the GoT universe.
On top of that, Bran interjects, “They have no idea what’s going to happen.” Which is technically true, since now the show has officially entered uncharted territory far beyond George R.R. Martin’s book series.
This is the first time the show will have gone ahead of the books, so literally no one has any idea what’s going to happen next in the series.
Game Of Thrones is due back on the air in April, but it is expected that many more cryptic clips and trailers will be revealed in the months leading up to that premiere.
