There's no doubt that Rob Schneider has been with the industry for so long now. But even at 52 years old, the comedian has only begun to explore creative freedom.
Because of this missing piece, Rob Schneider decided to hold the reigns as star, producer and director behind his own show, "Real Rob," which made its debut on Netflix on Tuesday.
Although the comedic series only spans eight episodes for its first season, Schneider still looks at it as a "labor of love." Talking to Mashable through a phone interview, Schneider explains:
"I like the freedom of it, there was no timetable. [...] We took as long as we wanted to write. We got to cast it the way we wanted and then we shot it the way we want it. Also we didn't have to worry about language or even the length."
"Real Rob" is somewhat similar to his 2012 CBS show, "Rob," which is a fictional version of his Hollywood life.
Also holding the position as creator and co-executive producer, "Rob" met its cancellation after just eight episodes even though it received great reviews.
But moving on to "Real Rob," the "Grown Ups" actor says that the new show is "an exaggerated yet brutally honest" portrayal of his own life.
Not only that, but he even shelled out the money himself to create the Netflix series, which is reportedly in the seven-figure range.
Shooting much of the series in Los Angeles, California, Rob Schneider says, "A lot of the stuff actually happened to me." He added, "I think it's Rob with the boring parts cut out."
It was only two months ago when Netflix was able to get their hands on the project. Lucky for Rob though, who really wanted the streaming service to host the show:
"Netflix was the place I always wanted for the show. [...] I like the fact that artists can bring their stuff directly to the audience now with the interference of a studio."
Rob Schneider net worth is $15 million.
