Celebrating 30 years of the American chain in the country, the world's most famous fried chicken chain introduces a chicken-themed KFC USB stick, keyboard and mouse. The long-standing restaurant chain decided to go all-out in their Japanese celebrations this year, unveiling a collection of chicken-themed computer peripherals to fit the country's traditional technological savvy.
The celebration, which contains its own promotional offer, will be going on throughout most of the month. From September 3 until the 24th, followers of Kentucky Fried Chicken's Twitter account can tweet anything adding a hashtag that translates to "KFC Colonel's Day", participating for prizes in peripheral gadgets such as a KFC USB stick, a mouse or a keyboard.
There is one of each of those peripherals for winners of the contest; however, not to worry, because if customers don't get any of the peripherals like the KFC stick, another 47 winners will get a consolation prize: KFC earrings. Yes, actual fried chicken earrings.
The peripherals are not only themed to fit the style and brand of the food chain; they actually look like bits you could find in a bucket of fried chicken. The KFC USB stick looks like an oversized piece of chicken, as is the mouse - while, in the meantime, the keyboard, although QWERTY, has only three consonants: KFC. In the place of every other letter of the alphabet, number and command keys, the winner will be able to find only different pieces of chicken, so they better be able to blind type. Besides the already odd keys, the keyboard also features three small statues: one of the classic KFC bucket, a milkshake cup and one of Colonel Sanders.
So, readers who will be in Japan for the next couple of weeks and can write a sentence or two in Japanese might be able to participate to get their own KFC USB sticks - their very own object of Japan oddity!
