Just Cause 3: See the 400 Sq. km Open Word!

Gamers are getting a dosage of action today with Just Cause 3's release. The latest installment in the over-the-top open world franchise, promises to be the biggest yet, boasting of a 400 square kilometer island playground called 'Medici' that players can wreak havoc in.

PlayStation Access got the early scoop on the map, showing off an end-to-end fly-by in this twenty minute video.

In a year filled with game-changing open world titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Fallout 4, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Just Cause 3's world is definitely a standout as well.

With that being said, is Just Cause 3 worth picking up right now? According to early feedback from critics, that depends on what system you're running.

Kotaku's Kirk Hamilton says that Just Cause's signature blend of destructive mayhem has been slightly marred in this iteration by nagging technical problems.

"I'm leaning toward giving Just Cause 3 a heavily qualified Yes based on how fun the game can be, but I'm not comfortable doing so just yet, largely because the early PC build that I played had some significant performance problems." He writes.

Hamilton's test rig consisted of a 4GB Nvidia GTX 970 Graphics Card and an Intel Core i7 CPU clocked at 3.5ghz.

He says that the game's narrative is weak and that gameplay can get pretty repetitive, but admits there is still plenty of fun to be had if you can get the game stable.

Ars Technica had pretty much the same verdict as Kotaku.

"It's extremely disappointing that a review of a game that can be so joyful when it's working has to read like a simple bug report." Said reviewer Steven Strom.

"But I can only report on the game I was given to review, and right now, just a day before the game is available for download to the public, that game is often unplayably broken in a number of ways (on the PC version at least; we weren't given console versions to try before release)."

It looks like you may want to wait a while before diving into this one.
