Zoe Saldana Goes Green AGAIN for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - Gamora Make Up Process Revealed

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 is all set for production and Zoe Saldana is prepared to go green. Apparently, it's not easy to become alien green.

Most of us probably think that it's just really good special effects, a one-time spray paint and stick-on tattoos.

Special effects make-up designer David White previously told Allure that CGI was not involved in Saldana's look. Make-up is involved in the whole set up but there are a few prosthetic pieces that were introduced in order to give Saldana the shadow line where her eyebrows were once located. The prosthetic pieces are made of encapsulated silicone.

How did White come up with a green that isn't gooey-looking, toxic waste hued or neon green? The prosthetics team involved with the creation of the color. They made sure the color would not be repulsive to viewers. At the same time, they tested the color to make sure it will be full of life, giving Zoe's skin tone depth and vibrancy.

So, we have her costume set and prosthetics on. Here comes the make up. What is the green hue made of? They start with a M.A.C. yellow primer dabbed around the prosthetics, adding to it a Makeup Inkz primer. When all is dry and set correctly, a green M.A.C. base will be applied. After the base process is completed, three more additional layers of green is airbrushed on Saldana, including make-up from Skin Illustrator and an Aqua mix highlight.

The whole process takes about four to five hours and during that whole time Saldana is stuck in her make-up chair.

The sexy latina actress posted on Twitter, via her handle @zoesaldana, a collage of her behind the scenes look during the first few days of the Volume 2 production.

"Ready for another one? #guardiansofthegalaxy #gamora #scifi #Marvel"

Saldana plays Gamora. Gamora is an orphan taken from an alien world by Thanos. She was primarily raised to become the perfect weapon. She became a formidable warrior as Thanos' personal assassin. In the first volume of Guardians of the Galaxy, Gamora left Thanos' side to seek redemption for her past crimes.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 5, 2017, as posted on EW.
