Losing Tons of Weight
The actor loses 30 pounds for the movie. The actor would just eat small portions of meat, kale or crackers. He's very hungry. And even though he is consuming few calories, he would still run 15 miles from his house in Los Angeles to the movie set.
Pay Cut
Gyllenhaal took a major pay cut to play in the movie and the actor said that having no family at the present allows him to focus on playing the role that he like, and not be concern about how much he is getting for it.
He Had Some Accident
In shooting one of the scenes for the movie, he hit a mirror - which was not in the original script. The actor said that it was kind of "in the moment" thing. Doctors stitched him up and wrapped his hands in gauze.
He Went to See "Carnage" Up Close and Personal
The actor went along for a ride in a "real-life paparazzi ambulance chaser" just so he could witness a real accident when a car went over 101 Freeway and then crashed into a wall. According to him, they even arrived first on the scene.
He's Really Passionate About The Movie
Jake Gyllenhaal is really passionate about the movie. He memorized the entire script even before they started. Gyllenhaal said that he is going to be real sad if the movie will come to an end. The actor said, "I would always be sad when we wrapped a scene because I'd think that's the last time I'm ever going to say the line, and it's so good. It deserves to be said again."
