President Barack Obama Was Joined By The Entire First Family To Serve Thanksgiving Dinner To The Homeless

President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle and their two daughters, 17-year old Malia and 14-year old Sasha Obama joined hand in hand for an afternoon of giving back on Thanksgiving.

The President of the United States was in charge of serving turkey and gravy while his wife Michelle Obama served up vegetables to the veterans and other homeless people.

Daughters Sasha and Malia gave out other Thanksgiving favorites like cranberries, mashed potatoes and stuffing.

The First Family's food serving activity was part of D.C.’s Friendship Place homeless shelter’s “Feast with Friends” event. It is a simple yet meaningful way to give thanks to dozens of former servicemen for their courage and sacrifice.

The veterans were greeted by the Obamas who thanked them for their service and gave them a traditional Thanksgiving feast.

Barack, Sasha, Malia, and Michelle Obama engaged in conversation with the veterans, with Obama telling them “we appreciate you” and simply asking how they are doing.

Earlier in the day, while taking part in the traditional turkey pardon, Obama said that he and the first family would "take some of the less fortunate turkey brothers" with them to serve up for dinner for the homeless and the veterans.

“It’s not only of the spirit of giving during this holiday season," Barack said prior to the “Feast with Friends” event, according to Daily Mail. "But our national obligation to make sure all those who serve and sacrifice for our country have a place to call home."

President Barack Obama kept the event light and even mad a few jokes, he laughed with his daughters Malia and Sasha before "pardoning" Abe, the National Thanksgiving Turkey. Obama declared that "Abe is now a free bird" and will now be designated "TOTUS — the Turkey of the United States."

Even if it was Barack Obama’s idea to have the family spend their Thanksgiving holiday serving dinner to homeless veteranss, it’s refreshing to see that their family bonding can be an inspiration to others.
