Angelina Jolie Pitt has reportedly been approached by Universal and offered a role in the "Bride of Frankenstein" reboot and "Wanted 2".
The news of Angelina Jolie getting movie offers doesn't really come as a surprise since she has become a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood, having played several odd characters that other actresses would have had second thoughts of playing.
According to Screen Rant, the 40-year-old actress/director is Universal Studios' first choice to play the bride in "Bride of Frankenstein" reboot, and that they have always wanted her to portray the role even if she has caused them recent losses.
In a recent report by the Hollywood Reporter, Universal was said to have worked with Jolie in her passion project "By the Sea" so that they could cultivate a good relationship, thus convince her to play other projects of the studio.
Estimates of "By the Sea" claimed the movie being a potential box-office loss. It also released to poor reviews Universal reportedly believes that the success of "Bride of Frankenstein" reboot and/or "Wanted 2" would cover the losses more than enough, according to Movie News Guide.
Jolie worked tirelessly on "By the Sea" together with husband Brad Pitt, and Universal's willingness to support the film could persuade Jolie to star in both films. It is perhaps worth noting as well that Universal also backed Jolie's directorial debut "Unbroken."
According to The Inquisitr, the "Bride of Frankenstein" reboot have been put off with every attempt, with the closest remake being 1985's "The Bride" starring Sting as Baron Frankenstein. The movie was met with negative reviews and the character has since been put in the shadows. However, since Columbia Pictures was responsible for the loose remake of Mary Shelly's classic, there might be hope yet for Universal's take on the story.
Currently, Universal is reportedly planning a "cinematic universe" starring several classic horror characters like the Mummy, the Invisible Man, Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolfman and the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
No doubt Universal would have a large audience pull if Jolie were to star in their "Bride of Frankenstein" reboot. However, they would have to tread carefully as the original "Bride of Frankenstein" had been a sequel to 1931's "Frankenstein," which was considered a James Whale masterpiece and best movie.
Meanwhile, Angeline Jolie could still star in "Wanted 2" if she doesn't want the "Bride of Frankenstein" reboot. A sequel to "Wanted," which grossed $341.4 million at the box office, has reportedly been in development hell for several years, and Universal seems desperate on bringing the franchise back.
The Guardian previously reported that Jolie has said she doesn't want to act any longer and that she sees her future more behind the camera.
"I've never been comfortable as an actor; I've never loved being in front of the camera. I didn't ever think I could direct, but I hope I'm able to have a career at it because I'm much happier."
As to whether or not Angelina Jolie would take the jump with the potential box office hits, remains to be seen.
