Different Burgers from Different Regions in America

Burgers are not just burgers. There's history that can be told on every burger that you will eat, depending on where it came from.

Slugburger

The main ingredient of a slugburger is of course a patty but it is mixed with flour and soy meal. The burger is from Northern Mississippi. It was invented by John Weeks in 1917 in Corinth, Mississippi. They used to call it "Weeksburgers." But as time passes by it gained the moniker "slugburger" which is the old slang for the word nickel. The recipe for the burger is designed to extend the ingredients especially during the time of the great depression.

Butter Burger

This is a burger with butter in the patty, on the patty and even on the bun. The recipe originated from Wisconsin. In Wisconsin, they put butter on everything. Can you believe that they make patties with butter?

Pastrami Burger

As the name implies, this is a cheeseburger with pastrami on top. Originally from Utah, this trend was started by Crown Burgers. Utah is known for its "burger innovation."

Theta Burger

Originally from Norman, Oklahoma, Theta Burger is a burger with hickory BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, cheddar cheese and dill pickles. This burger actually started out as a very complex delivery order by the members of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority from the University of Oklahoma. The restaurant did made the kind of burger that they are asking for and decided to honor their request by naming the burger after the sorority's name - thus the Theta Burger was born.

Luther Burger

Luther burger is a bacon cheeseburger that uses glazed donuts instead of buns. Up until today, we still cannot confirm if Luther Vandross really did invent the Luther burger. It was said that the rumors actually inspired Mulligan. But today, you can try one at Cypress Street Pint and Plate.
