McDonald's just announced a follow-up to last month's blurring of breakfast meals during non-breakfast hours. In some participating outlets in Chicago, the ChiTown Classic is already being served, CNBC reported.
What is the ChiTown Classic, you ask? Well, it just has Canadian bacon which is also found in the Egg McMuffin and Egg White Delight sandwiches. It does not stop there because applewood smoked bacon is also in the mix.

It might be easy to assume that the inclusion of Canadian bacon is a further blurring of the breakfast menu, but McDonald's spokewoman Lisa McComb said that the ChiTown Classic is not a “breakfast-lunch mashup.”
The sandwich will be offered for a limited time only and will run until December 27 only. Also, at the moment it is a local offering. The ChiTown Classic is one of two finalists of the McDonald's Chicagoland Burger Build Off. The competition received thousands of entries but the ChiTown Classic seems to be reigning supreme.
It is very much worth noting again that last month marked the extension of McDonald's breakfast hours, one of the biggest initiatives by the company in years.
The updates seem to be paying off too. In its last earnings conference call, sales of certain products like the Egg McMuffin contributed heavily to its better-than-forecasted results. Also, the switch back to the original butter recipe instead of margarine resulted in double-digit sales jump.
The other burger that made it into the finals of the Chicagoland Burger Build Off is the Rio Crisp Burger. This sandwich has tortilla strips and guacamole to add a different texture and taste to the usual McDonald's burger. See official Twitter announcement here.
McDonald's has announced on its Twitter corporate account that customers can create their own mashups by adding an egg to their burgers in select participating outlets.
