Ricky Gervais Net Worth: 'Life on the Road' Actor Clarifies Misconceptions on Atheism

British actor Ricky Gervais has always been outspoken about his spiritual beliefs, particularly about how he doesn't have a religion, or even believe in God, as reported by Unilad.

In a new Q&A interview with journalist Nicky Clark, the 54-year-old "Life on the Road" actor openly talked about the common misconceptions about atheism. According to the Independent:

"Listing some of the biggest misconceptions about atheism, he said: 'From equating it with Satanism to subtle confusions like 'atheism is the belief there is no God' as opposed to 'atheism is the lack of belief in a God.' [...] A particularly annoying one is that atheism is smug or arrogant. What can be more arrogant than believing that the same God who didn't stop the holocaust will help you pass your driving test?'"

Not only that, but Ricky Gervais also took things over to Twitter to further expound and clarify on his thoughts. "The Invention of Lying" star even decided to discuss the difference between atheism and agnosticism in a series of tweets:

"Technically of course we are also all agnostic about fairies. But some people believe (fairyist) and some people don't (Afairyist)"

Tweet #3

"An atheist doesn't necessarily believe that no god exists. They just don't believe that any god exists. That difference confuses some."
