Recovering from a breakup is never easy. To address to this problem, Facebook has created a new feature that will help billions of its daily users to overcome the pain accompanying separation.
The largest social media site offers a solution by giving its users an option not see their ex-lovers' posts anymore. Facebook users can now avoid seeing updates from their former partners on their news feeds. The tech company founded by Mark Zuckerberg is now testing the breakup protection feature on mobile devices in the US. The site will then decide whether to implement the said feature to all its users worldwide.
The aforementioned feature will allow users to avoid receiving updates from their former girlfriends or spouses without having to unfriend or unblock them which displays a negative message to both parties. The feature works after the relationship status is changed.
Kelly Winters, the Product Manager of Facebook has explained the new feature of the social media site.
"This work is part of our ongoing effort to develop resources for people who may be going through difficult moments in their lives. We hope these tools will help people end relationships on Facebook with greater ease, comfort and sense of control," Winters stated in a blog post.
Moving on after a breakup will never be easy for an individual who constantly gets updates of her former lover. The breakup protection can be a great help to users who are suffering from heartaches. The recent move taken by Facebook only proves that the company is concern for the happiness of its 1.5 billion users worldwide.
Facebook is still testing the new feature on mobile now. The company has also pointed out that the breakup protection which will limit photo and video sharing and messaging will be optional.
The latest feature is aimed to give users comfort and sense of control.
