The droids of 'Star Wars' finally meet in a short new commercial for a UK cell phone ad, and it looks BB-8 has a secret to share!
The TV ad for cell phone company O2 features the classic droids R2-D2 and C-3PO (sporting his new bright red arm) meeting up with 'Episode VII' droid BB-8 for the first time.
The ad opens with R2-D2 and C-3PO lost in the sandy terrain. "We've been wandering this desert forever," Threepio complains before he realizes that his companion is going the other way. "Wait! Don't leave me here!" he calls as they continue to search for any signs of life. The scene cuts to BB-8 patrolling a moisture farm before he is spotted by the two other droids.
There is a dramatic shot of all three approaching each other before the two astromech droids start exchanging beeps and whistles. It is obvious that Artoo made a joke about his companion as C-3PO retorts, "I am not a slave!" However, it looks like BB-8 has something urgent to tell them. "So tell us," Threepio asks the droid, "What could be so important?"
Just as BB-8 delivers a hologram message, the scene is cut by the voice of former 'Game of Thrones' star Sean Bean inviting the viewers to be early in getting tickets for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens.'
The O2 TV ad appears to feature actual scenes from the movie, so it is possible that BB-8 had signaled for R2-D2 and C-3PO to come to Jakku to share his message. But what is so important that the two other droids had to cross a desert to find out?
There is a possibility that the message is from BB-8's owner Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac). The Resistance pilot has been seen in the 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' final trailer as a captive of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and may have sent his droid out to deliver a message.
'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' will premiere on December 18.
