General Hospital Update: Jason Thompson Says Goodbye As Dr. Drake After 10 Years

General Hospital is one of the longest running soaps in the US and one of their main characters just bid goodbye. Jason Thompson who is known for playing the role of Dr. Patrick Drake has finally ended his character on the show, as he filmed the last episodes this week according to The Inquisitr.

It has been a long time coming for the actor to say goodbye from his character because he already said before his plans of leaving. But he finally made it official when he posted the announcement on his social media. Thompson has been in the show for ten years until he finally quit. He was honest to his fans how hard it was for him to leave the show.

He posted a photo on his Instagram indicating the last scenes of his role as Dr. Drake on the soap with a caption that says, "Yesterday morning. Nov 20th. 5:55 am. It was my birthday and also my last day of playing Patrick Drake on GH after 10 years. It was a long, emotional, exhausting, thrilling at times overwhelming day, and I am so grateful for every one of those moments. Change can be exciting and scary all at once. Shake it up..see what comes out. Thank you for the Birthday wishes. Thank you for the well wishes. See you soon."

Thompson is one of the industry's gems in the field of soap and a lot are wondering what he would be doing next. He has not said anything about his next project or where fans could see him after GH, but there are rumors saying he could be a part of another soap called 'The Young and the Restless.' Daytime Confidential published an article stating the possibility of Thompson becoming a part of the said soap. No deal has been made just yet.
