Huawei teases their new fast-charging batteries which have the ability to power up within minutes.
During the 56th Battery Symposium in Nagoya, the Chinese multinational company has unveiled their two new super fast charging batteries through a teaser. According to the company, their new set of lithium ion cells can charge 10 times faster and can be recharged to at least 50% percent capacity within just a few minutes.
In the said event, Huawei released videos which highlighted their two new set of fast-charging batteries. The first power cell has a 600 mAh capacity which can be charged to 68 percent in just 2 minutes. The other one is a powerful 3,000 mAh battery which can be charged to 48 percent in a span of five minutes that is equivalent for 10 hours of nonstop calls for Huawei smartphones.
The two videos can be witnessed below.
The new technology was developed by Watt Lab which is a part of the Central Research Institute at China's Huawei Technology Corporation. According to the research facility, the innovative batteries are made to have an increase rate of charging without affecting its long term battery life. The lithium-ion cell also has a graphite-coated anode which then offers a super fast charging ability.
In a statement, Huawei stated confidently that their new technology will be a breakthrough in the field of fast-charging batteries.
"Huawei is confident that this breakthrough in quick-charging batteries will lead to a new revolution in electronic devices, especially with regard to mobile phones, electric vehicles, wearable devices, and mobile power supplies. Soon, we will all be able to charge our batteries to full power in the time it takes to grab a coffee!" the company said.
Fast charging batteries are one of the technologies today that are trending. Last September, Qualcomm introduced their Quick Charge 3 which offers a charging speed of 80 percent in just 35 minutes.
