Reign Season 3 Episode 5 Recap: The King is Dead, Francis Dies

Previously, the King of France, King Francis played by Toby Regbo, who magically had risen back to life has met death again. This time, for good. The King is dead.

Because he probably loves to rain on other people's parade, Nostradamus decides to show up and inform Catherine that her son is not yet in the clear for he had a vision about a clearing with a tree in the middle and fallen petals. To him, that means death. Well, to be honest, sooner or later Francis is actually going to die but not this fast! Like, an episode later kind of fast.

Catherine warned Francis not to do anything rash and to always be guarded. Francis promising to protect himself decides to go on a trip to Paris with Mary to enjoy his new-found love for life because he only lives twice! In the middle of all this drama, Queen Mary decides to appoint her half brother James as the new regent since her mother's death. That means there will be impending instability and unrest because of the religion clash between Protestants and Catholics. So, a group of men decided to hunt down the Queen and kill her before she appoints him officially.

Unfortunately, it wasn't Mary that fell. Francis who set off after hearing her screams , because of their little tryst in the lake on their way to Paris, fought off the vindictive men but he was wounded horribly and his head was bashed multiple times on the ground. Although dazed, he stood up and victoriously rescued Mary but at the expense of his life, as posted by EW.

Regbo, in a sad announcement, posted on Twitter the end of his reign on the TV series.

Who do you hate more? Nostradamus or the Reign producers? Hope you still have the heart to tune in to the next few episodes of Reign if you want to know how Mary plans to move on.
