Does the King die or live? That is the question everyone is asking of the latest episode of Reign Season 3 Episode 4. Francis, the King of France is dying. Mary, Queen of Scots still has her wits up about the war between Scotland and England. Elizabeth, Queen of Englad still biting her lip from her court's insistence on her marrying. But the death of a king might decide the fate of all royalties.
If you've watched the last few episodes, then by now you would know that Francis has tried all sorts of earthly phycisian medicine that can help cure his illness but nothing can stop the inevitable. Francis is dying and he only has a few moments left.
On that fateful day, Mary is trying to save her nation from England closing in on their supply route - this information coming from a letter from the Queen Regent or Mary's mother. The brother of the King, Charles, suggests that they send two of their navy ships to fend off the English. Unfortunately, the ships sank. Having another trick up their royal sleeves, it seems Mary has sent a fake letter to lead the English astray having learned that her servants are being paid off by the English diplomat to intercept messages between Scotland and France.
When the English took the bait and followed an imaginary route, Scotland has finally received their supplies. When one good news comes, a bad one follows. Francis fell of his horse while riding in the woods. He can no longer mobilize himself and is stricken in bed. He is close to death.
Charles, learning that the witch Delphine has been captured by Sebastian, hurried to bring her to Francis to save his life. He fears losing his brother and taking on the responsibility of a King. Sebastian warns Charles and Mary that to save a life, a life must be given back as a price. To which Mary quickly announced that she willingly sacrifices her life for her husband.
Delphine stood over Francis' bed and does a silent spell that brings Francis back to life.
In an article posted by EW, the price in exchange for his wellness was not Mary's but Dephine's.
