For all of you who thought the Sriracha trend was finally over, a new product might have you changing your mind.
Lay's limited-time Sriracha-flavored potato chips have returned to store shelves, this time in the form of Pringles, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Pringles launched its own Sriracha flavor, which are available exclusively at Walmart. Los Angeles Times reported that Kellogs, the company behind Sriracha-flavored Pringles, began shipping out the chips to Walmart locations at the end of February.
The chips do not actually contain hot sauce. Instead, the product gets its heat from chile pepper, apple cider vinegar, and paprika extract. Here is a list of the official ingredients:
"Contains 2% Or Less of Salt, Sugar, Sodium Diacetate, Rice Flour, Garlic Powder, Dextrose, Monosodium Glutamate, Hot Sauce (Red Peppers, Vinegar, Salt, Garlic), Citric Acid, Natural And Artificial Flavor, Chili Pepper, Disodium Inosinate, Disodium Guanylate, Malic Acid, Apple Cider Vinegar, Paprika Extract (Color), Red 40 Lake."
The package image features a fire-breathing dragon, a bottle of hot sauce shaped like the Huy Fong Food's bottle, and a chip. Other Sriracha-flavored products include Sriracha Kettle Brand chips, Sriracha candy cane, and Sriracha bacon lollipops.
The popular hot sauce brand made a come back in late January, after being forced to halt production. California Department of Public Health placed a 35-day hold period for three of the company's sauces--Chili Garlic, Sambal Oelek, and the beloved Sriracha--after neighbors filed a lawsuit over "spicy odors that residents say caused a raft of health issues."
A California judge asked the company to enforce stricter health guidelines. The company stated that they were no longer crushing red-hot jalapeño peppers, which is considered the main ingredient and source of complaints.
