Federal police Chief Francisco Galindo confirmed to Fox News Latino, that Mexican police have arrested six people for their alleged connection with the murder of Ali Landry’s brother-in-law, Juan Manuel Gomez Monteverde and father-in-law, Juan Manuel Gomez Fernandez.
On November 7, the arrest was made in Tamaulipas, Mexico. Galindo said, that at the time of their arrest, the suspects had six Central American migrants held hostage and they were associated with at least 20 cases of Kidnapping.
On September 19 in Veracruz, two weeks after they had been kidnapped, the bodies of Landry's father-in-law, Juan Manuel Gomez Fernandez and his son Juan Manuel Gomez Monteverde were discovered.
“The events surrounding my family were tragic and what has happened will profoundly affect our lives forever, but my Father in Law was the kind of man that radiated pure joy and it was infectious. He was a jokester, a great dancer, a crier (especially when he was talking about his sons), and he lived his life in the present, appreciating each moment as a huge blessing." Landry wrote on social media last month.
Landry continued: “My brother in law was such a hard working business owner. He was an incredible salsa dancer, he was fluent in Japanese and we all looked up to him."
A special mass was held in honor of her in-laws on Monday, Nov. 9 which Landry and her family members gathered to.
“A special mass for our family yesterday in Monterrey with family and friends. We are very grateful for all of your love and support!” she captioned a group photo on WhoSay.
In 1996, Landry was crowned Miss USA and became a household name as the Doritos Girl, thanks, to a 30-second commercial that aired during the Broncos-Packers Super Bowl XXXII game in 1998.
Landry and Alejandro Gomez Monteverde got married in 2006 - two years after her marriage to Saved by the Bell actor and television host Mario Lopez. The marriage was annulled just 2 weeks after they got married. The split was due to his infidelity during the bachelor party with a stripper.
