21st Amendment Beer: Brewery to Open New Plant

According to a press release from 21st Amendment Brewery, the company is going to open the doors to a new brew house, tasting room, restaurant, and event space in the former Kellog Cereal factory building. The new plant will have an initial output of 100,000 bbls, or over 3 million gallons.

The brewery's name stems from the 21st Amendment of the US Constitution, which repealed the 18th Amendment, which mandated the prohibition of alcohol. So far, the brewery has had a hard time keeping up with demand for their product.

"Since we began packaging our beer six years ago with our Minnesota partner brewery, we have never been able to keep up with demand," said co-founder Nico Freccia.

The brewery has seen a massive increase in demand, due to their quality beer and shrewd marketing. Beers from the brewery are labeled with clever pictures of historical figures, such as Paul Revere and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The theme takes on a patriotic bent.

Initially, the new grounds will only house a tasting room, the new brewery, a gift shop, and the corporate offices for 21st Amendment. In 2015, the plans include introducing a beer garden and restaurant.

"This project will be nothing short of the number one destination spot for craft beer aficionados and beer lovers near and far," said lead designer David Darling.

"We look at this as an opportunity for us to bring the vision and beer home to the Bay Area where it all started when we opened our San Francisco brewpub in 2000," said the brewmaster Shaun O'Sullivan.

They will certainly leave their mark on the Bay Area: the new brewery and brewpub will make 21st Amendment the largest brewery in the Bay Area.
