Bradley Cooper doesn't seem to remember much of the first 'Guardians of the Galaxy' film and may have revealed that Thanos could be the father of more than just one villain!
In a recent MTV interview for his new movie 'Burnt,' the actor who provided the voice of Rocket Raccoon confirmed that Josh Brolin will be the main villain in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,' but ended up sharing a little too much information, sort of.
"Josh Brolin's the villain, no? Or he's the main villain, no? He was in the first one, he played What's-His-Name's Dad," Cooper said. "You know who I'm talking about? The Dark-Lord... the main guy."
When the interviewer claims she doesn't know who he means, Bradley Cooper continues to explain the scene in which Ronan (Lee Pace) confronts Thanos (Josh Brolin), repeatedly claiming that Thanos was Ronan's father.
In 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' Thanos is the adoptive father of Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) and was only working with Ronan to retrieve an Infinity Stone. It was never stated that the Kree radical was also the son of Thanos. But did Bradley Cooper mean 'Star-Lord' instead of 'Dark-Lord?'
Is Peter Quill the son of the Mad Titan?
Luckily, director James Gunn has released a statement on his Facebook page to dispel any rumors.
"After watching Bradley's interview it seems pretty clear to me that he simply forgot Thanos' name, was calling him the Big Bad of GotG Vol. 1, which he kind of was, and was also calling him Ronan's father, but I can see where it might be confusing. Anyway, that's the truth, as non-eventful as that may be. Have a great day, all!" Gunn wrote.
In the comic books, Peter Quill's father is revealed to be J'son, or Jason of Spartax. James Gunn has previously confirmed that J'son will not appear in any of the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' movies so the identity of Star-Lord's father in the films may not be so easily revealed.
