Nick Jonas: I Live a Pretty Low-Carb Life

Nick Jonas opens up about being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on the year 2005.

The "Levels" hit-maker found out 10 years ago that he had type 1 diabetes. Months before he was diagnosed he noticed that he was undergoing through the symptoms of diabetes such as losing weight, unbearable attitude, having to go to the bathroom a lot of times and etc. He couldn't believe that he had lost about 15 pounds in less than a month, it was insane. That's why he had to have his health checked.

At the age of 13 he had an unbearable attitude that he himself couldn't even control, he said that he had a difficult time in controlling his attitude especially when he was on tours and meeting fans. It was terrifying he said.

When he learned that he had diabetes, he had to take a break from all the tours that he and his brothers were and will be having. The first thing he did was to learn about maintaining good health He said he also had to learn about the carbohydrates and sugar intake and how his intake may affect his sugar levels.

During that time, the artist even wondered if he can still produce music and with the help and support of his family and friends, he was able to do so.

The artist said that he experienced a few diabetic symptoms. It was first when he was walking and he felt his sugar drop, luckily he was with a friend and they're on an elevator and he passed out, so he got to his room to go get some juice and snacks to raise his sugar back up again.

Nick Jonas said that he will not let his disease affect his career and life and that he will not let the disease hold him back from producing music but for that to happen, he needs to be much aware of his blood sugar and of what he consumes and what he does.
