ATIV Book 9 Pro: A Review on Samsung's First 4K Laptop

Samsung has launched its first laptop with a 4K screen display called ATIV Book 9 Pro. It may have taken longer than the market expects from a company with highly acclaimed UHD TVs under its belt. After all, Samsung is one of the first companies to have developed HDR TV models in the market according to 4K News.

Report from The Verge reveals that the ATIV Book 9 Pro is the company's latest addition to its ATIV product line of high-end laptops. The laptop is reported to have a 15.6-inche, 3840 x 2160 touch screen display and a real time HDR enhancement as stated by Samsung. According to the news site, this might be the best display on a laptop by Samsung so far.

The laptop is equipped with sixth-generation Intel Core i7 processor running at 2.6GHz, 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB SSD, NVDIA GeForce GTX 950M graphics card, four speakers and a 4K HDMI out port. This is reported to be sold at $1,599. Samsung has reported that the battery life of the 4.45 lbs ATIV Book 9 Pro will last up to 6.5 hours which may prove disappointing to some. This may be due to its high-resolution screen. Notably, this is better that the 3.5 hours of battery life from Toshiba's 4K laptop.

More so, Samsung also introduced another laptop, the ATIV Book 9 Spin. True to its name, the screen display can be rotated 360 degrees.

Meanwhile, the ATIV Book 9 Spin is sold at $1399 and doesn't come with a 4K screen like the ATIV Book 9 Pro. However it has a 13.3-inch, 3200 x 1800 QHD + touchscreen display with the same HDR enhancements Samsung is known for. It can be used in a traditional way or may be used like a tablet or in tented mode. Samsung also included the outdoor mode in the ATIV Book 9 Spin which will increase the screen brightness up to 700nit if needed. It has a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, a little over 7 hours of battery life and same RAM and storage capacity.

Both ATIV Book 9 Pro and ATIV Book 9 Spin will be available in the market this month on Samsung.com and from Best Buy.
