No one would have guessed that, at a very innocent book-reading, would blossom a wedding. During a Q and A with Carrie Brownstein and Amy Poehler, two female book fans asked if Brownstein might be able to marry them. Right at that moment - on the very spot.
The couple who were part of the audience, apparently having already arrived prepared with their marriage license, heard of Brownstein being an ordained minister. She became ordained to marry her close friends in a few weeks from now.
Carrie Brownstein, an American actress and writer, known for her book Portlandia: A Guide for Visitors and guitar band member for Sleater-Kinney, was at an event hosted by Vroman's Bookstore in Los Angeles, promoting her new memoir titled "Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl". Her book tour attracted music and book fans alike.
Poehler describes in her introduction as being a long time fan of Sleater-Kinney. The pair discussed what hunger means in her book title.
Brownstein explains that she sees the world in a way where hunger is necessary to feel things, emotions. About going through life being sensitive to the needs of others. When the event turned to the audience for the regular Q & A, one woman asked the Sleater-Kinney musician if it is possible to marry her and her partner.
When the opportunity to officiate a wedding came up, Amy Poehler in a quick excited response told Brownstein "You gotta do it!"
Amy Poehler, known for her snappy comical humor in Saturday Night Live is apparently a fast production creative herself. She quickly procured makeshift wedding bouquets from the event's floral display on stage while Brownstein speedily wrote a wedding speech. The event ended with an impromptu wedding.
Brownstein admits this is her first officiated wedding which goes with her book's theme on love, in a report by Hollywood Reporter.
