Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's relationship have been tested by time and the power couple of Hollywood reveal some of the toughest challenges they faced together.
In a joint interview with Tom Brokaw on Today, the superstar couple shared some of their difficult experiences which molded them as a married couple and strengthened their bond as a family.
According to Angelina Jolie, one of the most sorrowful event in her life was when her mother Marcheline Bertrand who also was an actress was diagnosed and died of ovarian cancer at 56 years old. The devastating experience inspired her to write her upcoming movie with her husband the 'By The Sea.'
The grief she felt when her mother passed away motivated her to create the piece. Angelina Jolie directs and produces the film which will be released in theaters this coming November 13.
The sad event was again remembered by the 'Maleficent' star when she decided to have a double mastectomy in order to prevent cancer. The 'Salt' actress discovered that she had an 87% chance of having breast cancer which pushed her have her varies and fallopian tubes removed.
As a woman, Jolie revealed that the decision was very difficult for her but she did it anyway for her family.
Upon hearing the news from her wife, Brad Pitt immediately went home to be with his wife.
"I was out in France, and Angie called me and I got straight on a plane to return. Seeing my wife have to be her strongest and knowing that it's the scariest news is terribly moving. And not being there is a horrible feeling," recalled Pitt.
Throughout the surgery, Angelina Jolie knew that Brad Pitt was on her side. The support of her husband also made her feel strong.
"This wasn't something where I was gonna feel less of a woman because my husband wasn't gonna let that happen,'' said Jolie.
"To face these issues together and speak about them and talk about what it is to be human, I think can be a beautiful thing," the actress added.
