Adele's 'Hello' Tops 1 Million Downloads in Opening Week, Tops No. 1 Hot 100 Debut

Things just keep getting better after her big comeback. Following Adele's album announcement weeks ago, the soulful singer-songwriter has more than one success to celebrate with her new single "Hello" recently soaring high on the Billboard Hot 100, finishing at spot no. 1.

Reports say that Adele's "Hello" hits the summit with its record-breaking sales reaching at 1.11 million during its opening week. Not only did it surpass Taylor Swift's hard-to-break records, but it also becomes the first track to sell at least one million downloads in just one week.

"Hello" is the lead single from Adele's third studio album entitled '25'. The track started with 1,112,000 download sales on October 29, which pushed down the rest of the leading downloaded tracks within the week, formerly led by Florida's "Right Round" with only 636,000 download sales.

Besides dethroning Taylor Swift's records on the music charts, Adele's "Hello" also beats The Weeknd's hit single "The Hills" following a six-nonconsecutive weeks of hitting no. 1. Reports say that the new track, which marks Adele's big return to the limelight, is the only 24th song to reach no. 1 in the Billboard's Hot 100's history.

Justin Bieber's "What Do You Mean?" and Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" are two of Adele's closest competitors in several music charts. Adele's "Hello" is her fourth chart-topper single to dominate the music charts, following her previous hit tracks "Rolling in the Deep", "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire To The Rain".

Two weeks ago, Adele joined an interview with the syndicated morning radio host Elvis Duran just hours after "Hello" was released. When being asked about her new material, she said "I was so frightened that no one cared."

During the same day, Russ Borris, WFUV New York music director also shared his thoughts on the Adele's new single, saying "It's amazing what power, passion and emotion Adele can convey in a single note. She is one of the very few artists that make you feel what she feels in a four-minute song."

Adele's new album "25" is set to due to November 20, Friday.
