Study Shows that Cold Leftover Food Has a High Health Risk

The popular "cold pizza" breakfast could be a health risk. What could be the reason for this? Maybe some would ask what if I reheat it before eating, would the risk still be there. Cold pizza breakfast usually happens when there is left over pizza from last night's party. According to Upvoted, after a night of drinking and partying, people usually wake up and instinctively they just stumble upon the direction of the kitchen. Even if they are disoriented, one thing is for sure, they are hungry and even starving.  They open the fridge and there it is, a large piece of cold pizza waiting to be ravaged. This story ends with a full stomach and happy feeling, but not for USDA.

Debbie Downers from USDA said that if leftover food is left untouched for more than 2 hours, they officially advise to skip or throw it away.  Two hours can be a big amount of time and there are some cases that refrigerating food ruins its quality. However, people may ask exactly how long can leave food out before it becomes dangerous to one's health?

One Reddit user AMA_or_GTFO  wanted to get some answers. He said his girlfriend always insist on letting her restaurant left over food cool down before putting it in the fridge. She explains that it preserves the flavor and helps combat the food-born bacteria.  When hot food cools quickly-especially when it is covered by a lid-moisture forms in the container that both ruins the texture and raises the risk for bacteria growth explain one Chef. The pathogens found here leave toxins behind that can make people sick or even die. One of six people in the United States, about 48 million people in total gets food poisoning each year. 128,00 stay in the hospital and 3,000 die of food-borne illness, this data according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Finally, it's not usual that room temperature food can bring you to the hospital because many people have already survived the cold pizza breakfast; however, it's probably to be safe and sorry.
