Habits That Busy People Should Quit to Boost Productivity

Are you so busy with work that you don't have much time for your family and friends? Well, if it's a 'yes', this is for you. Read on and see what you can do to eliminate your becoming too busy and spare yourself some time as you also try to revive your social life.

Work-life balance lets everyone divide his or her time and energy between work and home priorities. Though it is really hard to balance career and lifestyle choices, you must find ways to manage and obtain this. Otherwise, you'd break down - feeling bored, exhausted and unhappy.

Here are some things that a busy bee like you can quit to boost productivity, obtain work-life balance and feel fulfilled in whatever you do.

1. Using your phone and going online even if you're not physically at work.

"A lot of people are having a more difficult time finding balance in their lives because there have been cutbacks or layoffs where they work. They're afraid it may happen to them, so they're putting in more hours," says psychologist Robert Brooks, PhD, author of self-help books.

And when you take calls and reply to emails beyond official working time, you begin to be unfair to yourself and to your family. Doing this lets you shortchange the amount of quality time you should spend with them. You've worked more than eight hours, which seem to be enough for you to finish your daily tasks, right?

2. Focusing on unimportant things.

Know your priorities and spend all your energy on your list. Don't dwell on the past and stop cuddling your 'unnecessary emotional baggages'. Work your way to becoming productive and efficient by tapping your potential and keeping your motivational drive up and running. "Focus your time and attention on things you can control," Brooks added in a WebMD report.

3. Allowing 'productivity stoppers' go into your way.

These are the distractions that may hinder or limit your productivity levels to soar high. It could be the music you play, your working space, internet connection, email notifications, unwanted phone calls, social media accounts, YouTube and many more. "All these can trap you and prevent you from getting all the things done according to your plan," Celestine Chua, founder of Personal Excellence, said.

Beat burnout by making more time for the activities and people that matter most to you. Nothing compares to a balanced, happy and contented life. As they say, life is what you make it so try to have the best out of it.
