Kate Winslet’s Children Aren’t Allowed On Social Media Because ‘Titanic’ Actress Wants To Protect Them From Low Self-Esteem And Eating Disorders

Kate Winslet is currently promoting her latest film, a biopic of Apple CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs starring Michael Fassbender, and it's meant the usually very private actress has spoken about the way Kate Winslet's children are being raised - and she has a very strong stance on technology and social media in her home.

Even though the actress recently played Macintosh marketing chief Joanna Hoffmann, Kate Winslet's children aren't about to enter the world of social media anytime soon, as the Academy Award-winning actress has made it clear time and again that she disagrees with the practice of letting children into this environment at a young age, not even allowing them to be on social media.

According to People Magazine, the 40 year-old star has banned social media of all kinds at home to Kate Winslet's children (15 year-old Mia, 11 year-old Joe and 22 month-old Bear) because of her concern with the relation between social media and self-esteem.

"It has a huge impact on young women's self-esteem, because all they ever do is design themselves for people to like them," the Titanic actress told The Sunday Times when speaking about the ban on Kate Winslet's children. "And what comes along with that? Eating disorders. And that makes my blood boil. And is the reason we don't have any social media in our house."

Fox News reports that the actress was quick to clarify that her own stance and the way she's raising Kate Winslet's children doesn't mean she's about to become a spokesperson for children and technology, but she is quite concerned with the way kids are drawn and somehow addicted to devices.

A few weeks back, Winslet also revealed that she doesn't let her children own electronic devices such as iPhones.

In any case, it's refreshing to see that Kate Winslet's children are being raised the old fashioned way!
