Jodie Sweetin Pays Back $53,000 to Uncle Sam

Jodie Sweetin has started 2014 with a clean slate.

According to TMZ, the former "Full House" star, is now debt free after she paid off her $53,0000 owed in taxes.

According to media reports, the 31-year-old actress, failed to pay $53,626.29 in income tax in 2009, but has recently gotten back on track. Sweetin, is known for her role as Stephanie Tanner on the ABC show "Full House" from 1987 to 1995.

Last year the actress, set the record straight after reports suggested she entered a rehabilitation center and was seeking treatment. Sweetin told TMZ the rumors were false and that she was only working as a clinical logistics coordinator at an L.A. rehab center.

Sweetin, who once battled an addiction with drugs, said her employer has allowed her to live in a studio apartment on the property while she is dealing with her divorce from husband Morty Coyle.

"I work for the center and they have been really generous in helping me with a place to stay as Morty wanted me out by the end of the month," Sweetin told the Los Angeles Times. "The owners of the facility said I could stay here as I got things figured out."

Last year, the actress also filed for divorce from her third husband, Morty Coyle, citing irreconcilable differences and asked for full custody for their 2-year-old daughter. The former actress talked about her struggles with drugs in her 2010 memoir "UnSweetined".

Sweetin is not the first celebrity to have tax issues. Actor Nicolas Cage owed $13 million in taxes and according to WebProNews has paid back a little over $6 million.

In 2012, ski racer pay off over $1.7 million in back taxes. In a Facebook post Lindsey Vonn said she was not in control of her finances.

"I am disappointed with this situation," Vonn said in a Facebook post. "Not being in control of my finances and relying on someone else who you believed had your best interest at heart was a mistake and one I will not make twice."
