'Games of Thrones' City: Small Town Changes Name For DVD Release

Winter is coming to a small town in England.

According to the Radio Times, a small village in Britain will be changing its name from Kings Langley to Kings Landing, to honor the release of the third season of "Game of Thrones" on DVD. Kings Landing is the capital city, of the seven kingdoms of Westeros, in the HBO series. Kings Langley is about 25 miles northwest of London and will only keep the name for one week in February.

"A producer for the hit HBO show heard the town listed as a stop while waiting for a train at London's Euston station and was inspired to instigate the name change," according to Radio Times.

"Game of Thrones" will be released on DVD Feb. 18.

According to The Globe and Mail, game publishing company, TellTale Games, signed a multi-year deal with HBO to publish games based on the popular network series.

"Working with HBO to develop a new game series based on 'Game of Thrones' is a natural fit for our studio," Dan Connors, co-founder and CEO of Telltale Games, wrote in a press release. "This partnership will create an experience that will captivate the huge, global Game of Thrones audience. It will put them in control of the epic stories of warfare, intrigue, violence and revenge that we know and love."

Telltale Games is also behind games such as "The Walking Dead" and "A Wolf Among Us".

"Since the very beginning, Telltale's goal has been to work alongside the most talented and respected forces in entertainment, bringing their worlds to the interactive space as no other game studio can," Connors wrote in a press release.

"The Game of Thrones," is based on the book "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin. The Emmy Award-winning television program has won over a large audience with their mix of politics, war, magic, sex and violence. The show chronicles the events and battles in the fictional lands of Westeros and Essos.
