Jennifer Lopez is back on TV and this time as an action star for NBC's Shades of Blue. Variety reported that the network released this news about the singer/actress and her new project with them that will start to be shown on Thursdays beginning January of next year.
The show is a police drama series that will kick off for 2 hours for the premiere on the 14th of January, 9 pm. The week after that, the show will be moved to 10 pm as it moves forward. This is to give way to another NBC show called the Blacklist, which went on hiatus for 2 months.
As for the plot of the series, it is about a NYPD detective who later on became an insider informant who was forced to choose between working her job and at the same time having to protect her family. The time slot for Shades of Blue used to be the slot for another NBC show called The Player. Unfortunately for that series, the network had it cut off from its original 13-episode order.
This is the first time that J.Lo will be working on a drama and a police story on a series on TV. She had a busy year and even a busier one ahead since she will still be working on American Idol this season on Fox.
The show will mostly compete with ABC's How To Get Away With Murder since they have the same time slot. However, the show is going to be on a mid-season hiatus, which is going to give a lot of advantage for this series. The network really studied their strategy this time to make this one a hit. Fans of the actress and American Idol couldn't be more excited about her new gig.
