The Canadian-American entertainment company - Lions Gate Entertainment, and the Israeli and American media proprietor, investor, film and television producer - Saban's forthcoming Power Rangers film has been reported as a reboot of the sci-fi/action franchise.
However, more recently, it has been said that the Power Rangers movie is a continuation of the franchise - Power Rangers Dino Charge TV series rather than the 1993's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers film/TV show.
Reportedly, the 2017 Powers Rangers film has been dubbed as Saban's Power Rangers, as the co-creator of the Power Rangers franchise - Haim Saban, is actively reconsidering the earlier script draft that was penned by the American screenwriter and producer - Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. The South African film director and producer - Dean Israelite, will helm the Power Rangers film.
The current character lineup of the Power Rangers 2017 and their respective Power Ranger colors, as well as their Zod designs are as follows- Callum Oliver played by Dacre Montgomery - The Red Ranger/Tyrannosaurus, Priya Patel portrayed by Naomi Scott - The Pink Ranger/Pterodactyl, Brian Olson played by the American actor - RJ Cyler - The Blue Ranger/Triceratops, Oscar Fernandez played by Ludi Lin - The Black Ranger/Mastodon, Teyana Jones (casting to be announced) - The Yellow Ranger/Sabre-Tooth Tiger.
As stated by the reports, the Power Rangers film is currently budgeted at the relatively low cost of $35 million. At first, the budget came as a surprise, given the higher average cost of franchise films like the 2014 American dystopian science fiction action thriller Maze Runner, which cost $34 million to run into production. And in spite of any indications to the contrary, the Power Rangers television series has never been that expensive to produce.
The official photography on the Power Rangers 2017 is slated to get underway in Vancouver by the first quarter of 2016.
